THE PROJECT'S AIMS
The main goal of the Giangukai project is to make European children more interculturally aware, by giving them the opportunity to become acquainted with their peers’ lives in developing countries.

Today, thanks to new technologies, the right to communicate, which is recognised as a fundamental human right, may be entering a promising period. These new technologies could become available to a larger number of people than in the past and really bring the populations of the global village closer together, ensuring respect for the principle of equal opportunities and pluralism of cultures and their interaction.

However, at the same time such a right remains largely unrealised, since most of the poorest countries of the world are excluded from international communication processes and technological development.

Part of the Giangukai project concerns multimedia communication. Its purpose is to support this right and, through an intercultural approach, to bring diverse cultures together through assisting people with different cultures, traditions and languages to get in touch with one another.

The project hopes to give equal opportunities of expression to the various countries in the project, offering them the chance to communicate and interact thanks to the new technologies, in particular the internet.
