OBJECTIVES
The main goals to be achieved by Giangukai project online can be summed up as:
• exchange;
• acquaintance and friendship;
• comparison;
• stimulus and motivation;
• research.
When children browse the Giangukai project online, they will look at their and their partner’s school’s work. Then back in the classroom, the resulting discussion on what they have seen may perhaps stimulate the search for other new personal and interpersonal links, links that can then be put onto the website and shared with all the other children.

In general, the Giangukai project will characterise itself as a Learning Community in which the children will alternately constitute Speaking Communities (in their classroom) and real Collaborative Writing Communities (on the internet). The themes and subjects the children will discuss together will thus be the occasion for establishing a long-distance ‘writing’ collaborative link, and the website will be the key instrument in ensuring this intercultural exchange.
